How does the Probefix service work

All probes sent to us are carefully evaluated before repair, we test to confirm the extent of damage in a number of ways including utilising FirstCall. Once we are confident a repair is possible you are informed of cost and expected turn around time. Repaired probes under go function testing and are electrically safety tested before being returned

Our average turn round is six working days from receipt of your order. Complex repairs can be longer such as TOE repairs and lens replacement. In these cases we can often provide a probe for a small fee for the duration of the repair. 1*

What can MIUS repair?

Grommets This is a very common problem, grommets take the strain of the cable entering the scan head by giving protection against flexing as the cable enters the probe head by allowing a gradual ark of the cable. Grommets often separate or tear from the scan head exposing delicate braiding and hair fine wires, if not repaired promptly irreversible damage is caused to the fine cabling

 

Cable Sheaths Probe cables become trapped between the scanner wheel and surrounding housing resulting in abrasions and torn outer cable sheaths. Repair is essential to avoid ingress of moisture and dirt and electrical safety issues

 

Cracking and Split Casings Scan heads which develop cracks on the scan plan corners and elsewhere. Cracks can be repaired and recoated prolonging probe life. Cracks can appear over time and is often not down to user misuse but changes in temperature as the probe casing expands and contracts. Some physical damage resulting from probes being dropped can also be repaired. Risk: ingress of gel and electrical hazard

TOE (TEE) Probe Repairs TOE probes are the most expensive investment on your cardiac scanners but are also among the most fragile and damage prone of all transducers. Typical replacement costs are anything from £12,000 to £30,000. These probes are being taken out of service and replaced for sometimes relatively minor damage such as bite marks through to defective thermistors, lens, crystals and motor controllers. It therefore makes economic and common sense to repair these probes but till now your choice has been limited to service exchange packages. With MIUS you have a choice, to repair at a greatly reduced rate with amazing results
